SUNY Cortland has several reportedly haunted sites on its campus. On the window sill of room 716 in the Clark dorm building, the spirit of a football player is seen. He is still wearing his football uniform and seems to be bleeding from a gash above his eyebrow.
Brockway Hall, a dining facility on the campus, is another haunted site. Early one morning when one of the cooks was making coffee an old man was seen standing at the top of the stairs. The cook asked if he needed any assistance but the man just turned without saying a word and disappeared. upon investigation, no man was found anywhere near the dining hall.
In the early eighties a student living in Cheney Hall was pushed out the fourth floor window by her boyfriend and was killed. A mural was created in her honor. Students living on the fourth floor who view that mural are said to feel very uneasy, as if someone is watching them. Students also report seeing a misty apparition of a female with outstretched arms that disappears as soon as it is given a second glance.
There are no reports as to why, but there are also claims that Degroat Hall is haunted. It could be because there is a sort of tunnel that leads from Degroat Hall to Brockway Hall where the man was seen by the cook.

SUNY Purchase (Purchase, NY)
So I thought I would do my first real blog post focusing on my own school, SUNY Purchase. There have been rumors of various places on campus being haunted. The first and most obvious haunted site is the cemetery. It is a very small cemetery located right next to the Stood. The cemetery contains the remains of Colonel Thomas Thomas, the original land owner and Revolutionary War hero, his family and his servants. There are only a few, very old and damaged headstones left in the cemetery. Over the years students have reported hearing strange noises and feeling an odd presence in the buildings surrounding the cemetery.
Another haunted site on campus is the house located across the street from Starbucks right next to the day care center. It is reported that an old man hung himself either in the attic or in the basement many years ago and his spirit still remains in the house and can be seen in the windows from time to time.
The old Elephant Tree is also reported haunted. While students sit under the tree reading, studying or just relaxing they claim that the branches and leaves sway even when there is no wind. It is said that someone was hung from the tree; either a young girl took her life by hanging herself from the tree or it may have been used to hang slaves.
The water tower behind the Farside dorms is also said to be haunted. The rumor is that a young boy somehow died in the water years ago.
So, those are the rumors surrounding the haunting of SUNY Purchase.

Heylo!
Hey!
So every week I'm going to be blogging about one or two different colleges located in New York that are reportedly haunted. Surprisingly enough, there seem to be many colleges just in this state that are haunted. I'm going to be talking about some of the colleges and what has supposedly been seen and/or heard, and in some cases even smelled, on the campuses.
I hope you all enjoy!
